Having a Job vs Starting a Business

As young kids most people are usually taught that having a good job is the key to life. School is perp for getting the job you want. Which doesn’t work out all the time. If you work the school system right, all the way through college you may just land your dream job. Even in our homes we’re taught this though chores and getting paid an allowance. Work hard and do a good job you receive a paycheck. Not offended we’re taught that starting a business is the way to go. Or most times parents would prefer you follow in their footsteps. Usually if you parents are entrepreneurs you might have the same mindset. Sometimes people are born with the entrepreneurial gene. Today we’re going to get into the bad and good of both sides.

Job Benefits

Let’s start with the benefits that comes with having a job. I think the number one benefit of having a job is the security of the paycheck. You know as long as you go into work, you’ll have a check at the end of the pay period. You can even calculate your hours to determine how much you have on your paycheck. The second benefit of having a job I would say that it takes the thinking out of working. You come in and do the same thing each day and get paid for it. It’s like having a trainer to help you get into shape. They think you how to work out, what to eat, when to rest, when you can have a meal that’s not a part of your diet, they keep you motivated to keep going, they even lets you know your off days. Sometimes when you don’t have to think and just do, it can be easier. There’s also a feeling of you on the right path with having a job. The American dream is a job, family, and an home.

Job Cons

Now the cons to having a job. But before that, let’s get a fact in there really quick. Statistics says that 53% of people are not happy with their job. That’s a pretty big number to me. I think the number one con of having a job is that most people see a job as a means to a end. They job want a job that pays enough to cover bills, put some in a savings account, and to treat themselves every once in a while. Second has to be the non-guaranteed of having a job. You can come into to work and do what you’re supposed to do, and the business can be ready to cut down on employees. And your job may be one on the table even though you did everything you’re paid to do. So now, you have to find a new job before you fall to far behind on bills. Another con, what if you’re working a dead-end job, with no room to grow? Coming to work doing the same thing every day with no excitement can suck. You might get bored fast.

Business Cons

Moving on my friends. Let’s do the some cons for starting a business. First con is that 50% of start-up businesses fail. That’s a big chance you can put you into something you feel so strongly about, and it still fails. Kind of like a relationship with a boyfriend or girlfriend. Feels bad my friends. Another con is how much it is to start a business. You have to have a good amount of money to start a business, or a very good credit score to get the loans you will need. It can be pretty pricey to start one up a new business. Another con is the time you will have to put in and, most time you want be getting paid for that overtime.  Starting a business is a good thing but you have to be willing to take the bad with the good my friends.

Business Pros

To the pros we go my friends. That 50% of businesses fail, also means 50% of businesses are a success!  It’s the classic, look at the glass half full or half empty saying my friends. The number one pro my friend is there’s no cap on how much you can make! Starting a business can mean in 20 years, 5 years, or six months you can be the richest person in the world. One idea can can change your life forever! Number two is the fact that you get to make your own schedule. Being able to make your own schedule give you the chance to make time for the other important things in your life. That can be family, mental health, or working out. Last pro is that you’re the boss! You make all the decisions. Everything is run by you. No one is telling what to do, how to do it, or when to do it.

Summary

There you have it my friends. Having a job vs starting a business. The benefit/pros and cons of both. This wasn’t every benefit/ pro and con you can think of, just the ones that stood out to me. The ones I thought were important to highlight for myself and you guys. Takes this information my friends and do what you wish.
